About the Institution
The Government of India, through the Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas (MoPNG), established the Rajiv Gandhi Institute of Petroleum Technology (RGIPT) under the Act of Parliament 54/2007. Recognized as an “Institution of National Importance,” the institute is promoted by six leading Oil PSUs (ONGC, IOCL, OIL, GAIL, BPCL, and HPCL) in association with the Oil Industry Development Board (OIDB).
Positions and Disciplines
Applications are invited online from Indian nationals for Assistant Professor positions (Academic Pay Level 10) across multiple engineering and humanities disciplines:
- Mechanical Engineering & Fire & Safety Engineering: Manufacturing/Production Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Computer-Integrated Manufacturing, CAD/CAM, Health, Safety & Environment, Fire Protection Engineering, Fire Dynamics, and Risk Assessment.
- Electrical and Electronics Engineering: Electrical Machines, Power Systems, Power Electronics, Electric Vehicle Engineering/E-Mobility, High Voltage Engineering, Renewable Energy Systems, and AI/ML Algorithms in Electrical Engineering.
- Electronics and Communication Engineering: Control Systems, Robotics, Instrumentation, Embedded Systems, Sensors and IoT, VLSI Systems, Communication Systems, and Industrial Automation.
- Computer Science and Engineering: Cloud Computing, Software Engineering, Data Science, Operating Systems, Database Management System, IoT, Artificial Intelligence, and Machine Learning.
- Humanities & English: Professional Communication Skills and Humanities, Economics, Psychology, and Sociology.
Minimum Qualifications & Eligibility
- General Requirement: Ph.D. with first class or equivalent at the preceding degree in the appropriate branch, with a very good academic record throughout.
- Engineering Disciplines: Applicants must possess a B.Tech. degree in the relevant discipline.
- Humanities & English: Applicants must possess a Ph.D. degree in English, with economics, psychology, and sociology as mandatory subjects in the bachelor’s degree.
- Age Limit: Upper age limit is 35 years as of August 31, 2026 (relaxations applicable as per Government of India guidelines for reserved categories).
Salary & Financial Benefits
- Academic Pay Level: Pay Level 10 (Rs. 57,700 – 98,200) with an Entry Basic Pay of Rs. 70,900/- p.m. plus Dearness and Transport Allowances.
