About the Institution
National Institute of Food Technology, Entrepreneurship and Management, Thanjavur (NIFTEM-T), formerly known as IIFPT, is an autonomous institution of national importance under the Ministry of Food Processing Industries, Government of India. The institute has announced a walk-in-interview for selecting qualified candidates for various temporary external research projects.
Positions, Qualifications & Remuneration Overview
Applications and walk-in appearances are invited for the following temporary project positions:
- Young Scientist-I (GAP-066): 1 Vacancy. Essential Qualification: Ph.D. in Food Science / Food Technology / Chemical / Biological / Agricultural Process Engineering / Biotechnology / Biochemistry / Nanotechnology / Pharmaceutical Technology, etc., OR 3 years of research/teaching/design experience after M.E./M.Tech with at least one SCI journal publication. Remuneration: Rs. 55,000/- consolidated per month.
- R&D Associate I (SRP-67): 1 Vacancy. Essential Qualification: M.Tech or M.Sc in Food Process Engineering, Food Technology, Agricultural Process Engineering, Biochemistry, Biotechnology, Chemical Engineering, etc. (M.Sc candidates must be NET-qualified if their bachelor’s degree was a 3-year program). Remuneration: Rs. 45,000/- consolidated per month.
- Senior Research Fellow – SRF (GAP-88): 1 Vacancy. Essential Qualification: M.Tech / M.Sc in Food Process Engineering, Food Science and Technology, Chemical Engineering, Chemistry, Polymer Science, or Material Science (NET required for M.Sc candidates). Remuneration: Rs. 42,000/- + 10% HRA per month.
- Project Associate I (GAP-95): 1 Vacancy. Essential Qualification: M.Tech or M.Sc in Food Technology, Food Process Engineering, or Food Science and Nutrition. Remuneration: Rs. 31,000/- per month + HRA for NET/GATE qualified candidates, or Rs. 25,000/- per month + HRA for candidates without NET/GATE.
- Young Professional-I (STG-10): 1 Vacancy. Essential Qualification: B.Tech in Food Technology / Food Engineering / Food Process Technology / Agricultural Engineering (4-year UG degree). Remuneration: Rs. 25,000/- consolidated per month.
Age Limit & Application Fee
- Age Limit (As on Date of Interview): Maximum 35 years for men and 40 years for women.
- Application Fee: Rs. 500/-. SC, ST, PWD, and Women candidates are fully exempted from paying the application fee.
Walk-In-Interview Guidelines & Instructions
- Interview Venue & Time: The interview will be conducted in-person on August 17, 2026, at 9:30 AM at NIFTEM-Thanjavur, Pudukkottai Road, Thanjavur – 613005, Tamil Nadu.
- Application Form: Candidates must fill out the application form available on the official institute website. The hard copy of the application form, along with all supporting documents and fee payment receipts, must be submitted during verification at the time of the interview.
- Required Documents: Bring original certificates, mark sheets, grade cards, publications, caste/community certificates (OBC/SC/ST/PH if applicable), CV, two passport-size color photographs, and a complete set of self-attested photocopies.
- Travel Allowance: No TA/DA will be provided for attending the interview.
