2. About the Institute & Centre
Anna University was established on 4th September 1978. It is an affiliating type of University with more than 500 colleges affiliated to it. It offers higher education in Engineering, Technology and allied Sciences relevant to the current and projected needs of the society. Besides promoting research and disseminating knowledge gained there from, it fosters cooperation between the Academic and Industrial Communities.
The Centre for Water Resources (CWR) was established in May 1979, transforming the Division of Hydraulics and Hydrology to pursue teaching, research, and consultancy, and to impart training programmes in hydrology and water resources engineering, irrigation management, and water quality and quantity management.
