4th MIDS Doctoral Colloquium on Economics and Development Studies
About the Colloquium
The MIDS Doctoral Colloquium, now in its fourth edition, provides an opportunity for doctoral students in their advanced stage to present their research to senior scholars in the field, obtain valuable inputs, exchange ideas among peers, and contribute to the larger discussion in their respective fields. It addresses challenges faced by graduate students in India regarding interdisciplinary research, data processing, methodologies, and academic writing.
Call for Applications & Requirements
- Applications are invited exclusively from scholars who have completed their registration for PhD at any recognised institution in India.
- Interested candidates must submit an extended abstract (750-1000 words) along with an updated CV and supporting documents proving a valid PhD registration.
- The proposed paper should be based on the scholar’s doctoral research, detailing the design, background, framework, methods, and key findings.
- Selected full papers should have a word count between 5,000 and 8,000 words.

- Macro economy, trade and finance, ecology, and urban studies.
- Growth and development, agriculture and food security, and industry.
- Education, health, employment and livelihoods, and migration.
- Gender, governance, environment, and public policy.
- Other development issues viewed from economics, sociology, political science, history, and anthropology perspectives.

- Notification of Acceptance: 31 August 2026

Event Details & Support Overview
- Event Type: Doctoral Colloquium (3 days comprising invited lectures and technical sessions)
- Travel Support: Selected participants receive partial support for travelling (AC three tier train ticket reimbursed) and shared accommodation for three days.
- Awards & Publication: Best paper awards (certificates and cash prizes) under economics and development studies categories. Best papers may be considered for publication in the MIDS Journal ‘Review of Development and Change’ co-published with SAGE.
