Two-Day National Seminar on Carbon Farming and Smallholder Agriculture: Pathways to Decarbonising India
About the Seminar
The Institute of Development Studies, Jaipur (IDSJ), is organizing a two-day national seminar sponsored by the Indian Council of Social Science Research (ICSSR), New Delhi. Agrifood systems account for one-third of global anthropogenic GHG emissions, with agriculture being the second-largest contributor in India after energy. With the launch of the domestic carbon market (Carbon Credit Trading Scheme – CCTS) by the Government of India on June 28, 2023, this seminar aims to provide a platform for scholars, researchers, policymakers, and practitioners to discuss the progress and integration of carbon farming, specifically focusing on smallholder farmers and climate-resilient agricultural transitions.
